Nature's Got Your Back: An Herbal First Aid Workshop
A hands on workshop with local herbalists, Barukh Schwadron and Lauren Kemple
Barukh Schwadron is a wild creature who has had a deep passion for the healing arts since he was a young child. He has been a clinical herbalist for 18 years, an ICU nurse for 5, and an ER nurse for 4. He has experience in both wilderness medicine and street medicine and organizes first aid teams for festivals and gatherings in the wilderness and outside of it. He is also a chef and a natural builder and is honored to call Ashland, Oregon, his home.
Lauren Kemple’s love of the plant beings she interacts with on a daily basis has influenced her work in the world for as long as she can remember. Her journey began with long days as a child in the damp northern Oregon woods where trillium, ferns and mossy logs were her dear friends.
In 2011, her curiosity about the intersection between ecological health and human health led her into two years of profound studies of bioregional herbalism with Jon Carlson at the Vitalist School of Herbology. Lauren now owns and runs Vitalist Botanicals, the bioregionally focused herbal product business that Jon founded in 1997.
Lauren brings enthusiasm, generosity and creativity to her teaching, inspiring people to befriend the plants beneath their feet. Her children are fourth generation Southern Oregonians. She is madly in love with the unique biodiversity of Southern Oregon and committed to nurturing the seeds of this love in others.
